HAVANA Cuban President Fidel Castro on Tuesday denied American press reports that China is providing weapons to Cuba.

"Cuba doesn't need to buy weapons from China because it has enough to defend itself against any aggression," DPA quoting Castro as saying during a two- hour appearance on state television.

Three Chinese ships that docked this year and last year in Havana were carrying only food and textiles, he said.

Castro added that Cuba already has "munitions in industrial quantities".
